His love of athletics and the human body carried with him into university when he attended the University of British Columbia. As a student, he double majored in Chemical Engineering and Kinesiology. After graduating, he entered the work force for three and a half years in order to gain more professional experience.
To gain a competitive advantage, he returned to school and first pursued a postgraduate degree in business administration, project management, accounting, and software development. Unfortunately, it was around this time that Gino Pugliese faced one of his biggest challenges. During a particularly difficult rugby match, he sustained a severe injury that took him out of the game permanently. Having to watch on the sidelines was difficult for Gino Pugliese. He slipped into severe depression and lost control of his personal health. At roughly four hundred pounds, he realized that he needed to make a serious life change.
Gino Pugliese and the value of a healthy diet cannot be underestimated. By focusing on his diet and exercise, he was able to shed nearly four hundred pounds and improve his mental health.
